ARRIVAL
From your arrival at the ‘Avram Iancu’ International Airport in Cluj, you have multiple options of transportation depending on your destination.
- Uber / Bolt – the price will be somewhere around 20-40 lei (4-8 euro), depending on your arrival time, trafic congestion and availability of drivers:
- Take the public bus transportation (option possible until 10pm) – the transportation ticket price is 3lei/trip (0.6 euro). There are multiple ways to pay for the ticket:
- BT24pay is an app available for Android or IOS. It is safe and reliable, but make sure you select CTP CLUJ-NAPOCA when selecting location for payment.
- You can pay by sending a SMS to the following short code: 7479. The SMS should include the full name of the bus/tram line you are in. This option costs 0.65 euro + tax and grads you a trip on that line for 45 minutes, which is a bit more expensive that other methods. More details and SMS options (like paying for an entire day of trips) you can find on the CTP’s official site.
- You can pay using your card or a phone with contactless payments enabled by using the dark blue box in the bus or tram. Do not confuse them with the light blue boxes with big screens that are for subscription cards. They do not give you a payment confirmation in paper, so make sure that they confirm that payment was successful. The confirmation doesn’t last long and fills the small screen with a bright green color. If you are asked to provide your ticket, you must show them the box you used and tell them the last 4 digits of your card to confirm payment. This payment method is not that reliable.
- You can also buy tickets from the automated or not so automated booths that are available around the city in most, but not all stations.
If you are going from the airport to the TUC-N Student Observatory Campus by bus you can take the bus with the number 8 or 5 until the ‘Crinului’ Station and then change the bus for the number 46B that will take you to the final destination.

Also, if you decide to travel by bus at your arrival or during your stay, we recommend you to download and use the app Moovit on Android or IOS. In Cluj-Napoca, stations might not exist for both ways sometimes, so we recommend double-checking before going to a specific station
ACCOMODATION
If you decided to opt for accommodation in the TUCN Student Observatory Campus we would like to inform you that:
- The address of the campus is: Complex Studențesc Observator, Strada Observatorului 34, Cluj-Napoca 400066
- You will be greeted at the entrance by one of your volunteers and guided to your rooms. The check-in can be made from 15th of July (all day) until 16th of July at 8p.m.
- Checkout will be on 20 July

For the first and last day, we recommend you bring sun lotion, a hat and hiking boots for a trip away from the city.
All of our activities will be centered around UTCN HUB. Other points of interest will be the Observatory Canteen and Dormitories
